Kids used a variety of fonts to create darks and lights against a black-and-white photo portrait of MLK. The results are incredible.

MLK mural

Well, I took the plunge. I was nervous about it but I knew these kids could handle it! I have done many variations on this project but never a FULL MURAL on 36 pieces of 8.5 x 11 sized pieces of paper. The result is TREMENDOUS.

LESSON 4: Pixels

Students are learning about PIXELS, DPI (dots per inch) and dots! we are learning about what makes up a picture on the computer and how we can create a pixelated look.

FROM THE WEB:

The images on a computer screen are composed of tiny dots called pixels (short for picture element). The computer controls each pixel individually. Most monitors have hundreds of thousands, or often millions, of pixels that are lit or dimmed to create an image.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS masks

Students were given black construction paper cut into a skull shape. They were allowed to use tissue paper, solid sticker paper, felt and white charcoal pencils to design their personal skulls. Students took their masks to a whole new level!
